Bernard is married with one child (a daughter aged 10).

Having gained a Chemistry degree, Bernard started his career in general chemistry, converting to food technology then standards.

He has experience with major Blue Chip companies and has spent the last 10 years with BSI, the foremost global standards organization.

He is an enthusiastic sportsman (riding, badminton, cricket) and an active football referee.
