James Roddin is currently assigned as a Detective Sergeant in the Detective Division of the Suffolk County (NY) Police Department. He has served in various assignments with the SCPD since 1987. Assignments include Police Officer, Detective, supervisory positions in Patrol and specialized units such as COPE (Community Oriented Police Enforcement), The Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET), and Commanding Officer of The Gang Suppression Unit.

He has attended numerous training courses, seminars and conferences in the areas of officer safety and criminal investigations with particular emphasis on Narcotics and Gang Investigations. He is certified as a police instructor in the State of New York.

D/Sgt. Roddin is a member of local, regional and international Police organizations, including the East Coast Gang Investigators Association (ECGIA) and The International Narcotics Enforcement Officers Association (INEOA).
